Elder: Marion Olive

Passed away peacefully in her one hundredth year, at The Village of Winston Park, Kitchener.  Marion was born and raised in Toronto, where she spent her life until the age of 87. A world traveller who loved cats and miniatures, she worked as executive secretary at Bell Canada for thirty-three years. Marion is predeceased by her dear sisters Alice Simonds of Plattsville, Ontario, Hazel Kennedy of Vancouver, BC, and her brother David Elder of Chatham, Ontario. Much loved aunt of Joanne Simonds, Donna Hallman, Merilyn Simonds, and Virginia Simonds; John Kennedy, Anne Magnuson, Joanne Erfle, and Michael Kennedy; Brian, Bruce, and Gordon Elder and great aunt to 22 grand nieces and nephews. Thank you to the staff of Winston Park for their care and compassion and a special thanks to Jolanta, her companion, who was such a blessing to her. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 12th at 2 pm in the Community Room at Winston Park with Chaplain Lucy Graves officiating. Reception to follow.  Donations gratefully accepted for The Toronto Humane Society or The Arthritis Society and may be made through Glendinning Funeral Home, Plattsville, Ontario.



DAY: Robin William

robin-dayDAY: Robin William – passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 17, 2017 at the Grand River Hospital, Kitchener.  Robin Day of Washington, ON in his 74th year.

Beloved husband of Barbara (nee Williams) whom he married July 9, 1966.  Dear father Charlene Day-Knarr and partner Wade Belanger of Waterloo.  Sadly missed by his grandsons Keegan & Daron.  Survived by his brother Arthur & wife Helena and sister Ailene Deaville all of Toronto and by his niece and 2 great nieces.   Robin will be missed by his four legged friends Alfie, Summer & Candi.

Robin was predeceased by his parents William Day and the former Margaret Campbell and by his mother & father-in-law Elsie & Albert Williams

Relatives & Friends may call for memorial visitation at the Glendinning Funeral Home 40 William St. Plattsville on Sunday from 1-4 p.m.  Memorial Service will be conducted at Peace United Church, Plattsville on Monday January 23, 2017at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Grand River Reginal Cancer Centre or Westies in Need  (cheques accepted) would be appreciated by the family.

rosePETTIGREW: Donald Melvin- passed away peacefully on Monday January 16, 2017 at the Woodstock General Hospital, Don Pettigrew of Bright in his 76th year.

Beloved husband of the late Muriel (nee Fulton) Pettigrew who predeceased him November 17, 2014.  Dear father of Dale & Darla of Plattsville and Dean of R. R. #1 Bright.  Cherished Grandpa of Abby and husband Jonny and Tess. Survived by his sister Mildred Sinclair of Bright

Predeceased by his brothers Lorne & wife Ruth, Les & wife Betty and by brother-in-law Fred Sinclair.

Don retired from the Canada Sand Paper and had operated Pettigrew’s Garage in Plattsville since 1980 with his wife Muriel and his son’s.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Don’s Life at the Glendinning Funeral Home, 40 William St., Plattsville on Saturday January 21, 2017 from 1-5p.m.  Interment later in Ratho Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Woodstock General Hospital Foundation (cheques accepted) would be appreciated by the family.

WILGRESS: David Charles – passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 10, 2017 at Conestoga Lodge, Kitchener.  David Wilgress of Kitchener and formerly of Plattsville in his 79th year.

Dear father of Debbie & husband Jeff Baer of Plattsville, Jim Wilgress & wife Wanda of Waterloo, Donnie Wilgress & friend Katherine of New Hamburg, Barry Wilgress & wife Teresa of Kitchener.  Sadly missed by his grandchildren Matt & Amie, Trevor, Ashley, Jaime & Andrew, Samantha & James, Amanda & Jeff, Katey & Ryan, Jonathan, Jennifer, Jeremy and great grandchildren Benjamin, Paityn, Kiara, Sasha & Caitlyn. Survived by his brother George & Wife Jennie of Caledon East

Predeceased by his parents Edward Wilgress & Millicent Ruth Mallet.

Relatives and friends may call at the Peace United Church, Plattsville on Saturday January 14, 2017 from 1:00 pm until 2:45 pm followed by the Funeral Service at 3:00pm.  Interment later in All Saints Cemetery, Huntsville
